Cardiac Hydatid Cysts.

چکیده
There is an increasing number of reports in the literature of cases of primary echinococcosis of the heart which have been treated surgically. Prior to 1932, when Long performed the first successful operation, these cysts were nearly always diagnosed in the post-mortem room. Until 1947 only four successful cases had been reported. Since that time there have been another 42 cases in the world, of which all but seven have been reported as cured. The following are two cases successfully treated by operation. CASE REPORTS

Middle cerebral artery occlusion due to hydatid cysts of myocardial and intraventricular cavity cardiac origin. Two cases.
BACKGROUND Hemispheric strokes of hydatid origin are very rare. We describe two cases of middle cerebral artery occlusion by a cyst of cardiac origin. CASE DESCRIPTIONS Cerebral angiography demonstrated occlusion of the initial segment of the middle cerebral artery. Myocardial and pericardial cysts were diagnosed by echography and pathological examination. Subsequent development of hydatid cy...
متن کاملCardiac Tamponade by Hydatid Pericardial Cyst: A Rare Case Report
INTRODUCTION Hydatid cysts are most commonly found in the liver and lungs but they are rarely found in pericardium. CASE PRESENTATION We present a rare case of isolated hydatid cyst in pericardium of heart of a 70 year old female presented in casualty with unusual features like, dyspnea, palpitation and chest pain mimicking acute coronary syndrome. DISCUSSION Hydatid cyst in Pericardium rep...
متن کاملA case Report of Cardiac Hydatid Cyst found during an Emergent Tamponade Surgery in an Unstable Patient
Cardiac hydatid cysts are uncommon and pericardial involvement is extremely uncommon. We report a rare case of a cardiac hydatid cyst that was surprisingly found during an emergent tamponade surgery in a woman. She was pale, febrile, ill and toxic and 300cc turbid and purulent fluid was drained. In taking history, it was found that the patient had six sheep dogs in her house. Laboratory analys...
متن کاملIsolated Pericardial Hydatid Cyst: A Case Report
Cardiac echinococcosis is extremely rare, and cysts are found mostly within the myocardium. Most cardiac hydatid cysts are located in the left ventricular wall. Only a few cases of isolated pericardial hydatid cysts have been reported. Echocardiography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are important diagnostic tools for the diagnosis of echinococcosis. Herein, we report a rare...
متن کاملCardiac echinococcosis with negative serologies: a report of two cases.
Cardiac involvement in hydatid cyst disease is uncommon, occurring in approximately 2% of hydatid cases. Two cases of cardiac hydatid cysts with negative serologic tests are reported herein. In Case 1, the patient underwent surgery to remove cysts from the liver and 10 years later presented with symptoms and signs of ischaemic heart disease. In Case 2, the patient first underwent surgery to rem...
متن کاملSudden death due to an unrecognized cardiac hydatid cyst: three medicolegal autopsy cases.
Echinococcosis is a human infection caused by the larval stage of Echinococcocus granulosus. The most common sites of infection are the liver and the lungs. Cardiac hydatid cysts are very rare, even in regions where hydatic cysts are endemic (the Mediterranean, South America, Africa, and Australia). It has been reported that cardiac involvement is seen in about 0.5-3% of human echinococcosis ca...
